Operational transition support

Make your business easier to hand over.

An owner is retiring. You’ve bought a business. A new manager is taking over. The work still needs to get done. I help capture the knowledge, connect the systems and prepare the people who will carry it forward.

This is paid work on the operation: what people do, what the tools know, and what the next team needs to run the business with confidence.

What gets stuck during a handover

Experience from inside the business

I bought, grew and sold a locksmith business in Rexburg. I learned how much a small operation depends on call coverage, pricing and what its people know. Today I run operations at Adventure Idaho and build the systems its team uses.

These figures are from Adventure Idaho, where I serve as General Manager.

What the next team can use

I connect records, rules and responsibilities so work does not depend on one person remembering every exception. That can mean database engineering, API integrations, custom software, documentation and training, depending on what the business already uses.

At Adventure Idaho, connected tools surface conflicts and overlooked inquiries. AI helps answer operational questions and prepare changes for human approval. A handover can use similar patterns after we test them against that business’s own work. Important decisions still belong to people.

How we work through it

  1. Understand the operation. Follow the work with the people doing it. Find the decisions, records, exceptions and handoffs that matter.
  2. Agree on diagnostic priorities. Choose what to examine first and put the findings, risks and implementation priorities in a written plan. The diagnostic is separate from the build.
  3. Build, test and hand over. Connect or improve the agreed workflows, test them with the team, document what was built and train the people who will own it.

Your business controls its accounts and data. Ongoing monitoring, fixes or improvements are available through a separate support agreement.

Practical questions

Can we start before the owner leaves?

Yes. That gives us a chance to observe the work, confirm the exceptions and prepare the next team while the person who knows the business can still answer questions.

Will we have to replace our software?

I start with the tools you use now. We keep what works, check where information can move between tools and recommend a change only when the payoff is clear.

What does a full operations diagnostic cost?

The on-site operational diagnostic is $5,000. We agree on priorities, scope and timeline upfront, and you receive written findings. Implementation is scoped and priced separately. See the current detailed terms.

Do you advise on the business transaction?

I work on operational handover alongside your existing advisers. I do not provide brokerage, valuation, legal or financial due diligence.
